Frequently asked questions

Do I need to pay to try Mockstand?

No. The free plan lets you create up to 4 screenshots per session, export individual PNGs, and use the full background and text editor - no credit card required. You only need an account (free) to save projects.

What's the difference between PNG export and ZIP export?

PNG export saves one screenshot at a time directly from the editor. ZIP export bundles every slot across every language into a single archive in one click - useful when you're shipping to multiple locales and need files neatly named and organized. ZIP is available on Starter and above.

How does multi-language support work?

You design your screenshots once (layout, background, device frame, overlays). Each language then stores only what differs: the screenshot image and the text strings. When you export, Mockstand renders each language independently. The base design is shared, so changing the background or frame updates every locale at once.

What are AI translation credits and how do they work?

One credit covers a single caption text - Mockstand sends all your caption texts to Claude AI and fills in every target locale at once. Credits reset each billing period. Basic gets 200 credits/month, Pro gets 2000/month. Credits are consumed only when the request completes successfully; a failed call is refunded.

Can I use my own fonts?

Yes, on Basic and Pro plans. You can upload TTF, OTF, or WOFF font files. The font's CSS family name is extracted automatically, so it shows up in the font picker alongside default fonts. Basic allows 2 custom fonts, Pro allows 20.

Can I create screenshots for both iOS and Android?

Yes. Mockstand includes device frames for both platforms. Frames are tagged by platform (iOS/Android) and type (phone/tablet), and you can switch orientation (portrait/landscape) per slot. You can also use a frameless blank canvas if you don't want a device border.

What happens to my uploaded images and projects if I cancel?

Your projects and assets remain accessible for the remainder of your paid period. After downgrading, projects beyond the plan's limit become read-only and exportable but can't be edited until you're under the cap again. We recommend exporting a ZIP before downgrading if you have many active projects.

What's the difference between monthly and yearly billing?

Both give identical features. Yearly billing saves roughly 17% compared to paying month-by-month, and charges you one lump sum upfront for 12 months.

Is there a file size limit for uploads?

Screenshot and background images: 10 MB per file. Custom fonts: 5 MB per file. Accepted image formats are PNG, JPEG, and WebP. SVG is not accepted for uploads (only the built-in icon library uses SVGs).

What is a "spanning background" and which plans support it?

Spanning background is a design mode where a single image or gradient stretches seamlessly across all your screenshot slots, like a panorama. Each slot gets its own slice. It's available in the editor on all plans - it's a canvas feature, not a paid gate.

Can I reuse a design across multiple app store listings?

Yes. Each "project" is a self-contained set of slots with its own device frames, text layers, and languages. You can create a separate project per app. The Basic plan supports 15 saved projects, Pro is unlimited.

Do translation credits roll over between billing periods?

No. Credits reset to the plan's monthly amount at the start of each month - unused credits don't accumulate.
